|---|---|
| Match Date | Saturday 06 November, 2010 |
| Venue | Millennium Stadium, Cardiff |
| Tour Duration | 3 Days/2 Nights |
Welsh fans are extremely passionate about their rugby and you can expect every seat of the 74,000 capacity stadium to be filled today as they cheer on their local heroes against our boys. The Aussies have a pretty good record at this stadium winning 4 out of 7 meetings including last year’s 33-12 triumph where we reclaimed the James Bevan Trophy.
It is going to be a tough encounter to kick off the Spring Tour and we will need to be at our best to get some early momentum going for what is going to be an action packed three weeks of rugby against the best teams in the Northern Hemisphere.
Millennium Stadium
The stunning Millennium Stadium in Cardiff is one of the world's most spectacular sporting arenas. Completed for the 1999 Rugby World Cup, it has a 72,500 capacity and boasts a retractable roof.
It was built as a replacement for the old Cardiff Arms Park at a cost of £130 million.
The shape of the seating bowl was the primary design factor. Computer-aided design helped create a high standard of viewing and comfort for each seat.
The first game at the stadium was against the then World Cup holders South Africa in June 1999, when the ground was not yet completed and the capacity was just 27,000. Wales won for the first time against South Africa, 29-19.
About Cardiff
Bustling, noisy, a little claustrophobic even, Cardiff on international match days is quite an experience. No rolling maul ever seen in the magnificent Millennium Stadium or its Cardiff Arms Park predecessor can match, for sheer heroic human endeavour, the crush at the city centre bars.
Yet Cardiff's centre, dominated to one side by the historic castle, is full of good places to eat and drink. The shopping arcades, and market, are excellent and there are live music venues, art galleries and nightclubs.
It's the raw rugby atmosphere that you come to Cardiff for & on match days you can literally eat, drink and sleep it on these streets.
