Friday 20 September, 2019 – Arrive in Sapporo & Welcome Drinks

Arrive in Sapporo and make your way to your hotel. After checking in the afternoon day is yours to relax or head out and get your bearings around central Sapporo ahead of tomorrow’s first match of Australia's Rugby World Cup 2019 campaign. 

This evening you will join us at our welcome function (dinner & drinks included) where you will get the chance to meet your tour leader and fellow travellers before Australia's opening RWC 2019 match tomorrow.

Saturday 21 September, 2019 – Australia v Fiji at Sapporo Dome

After breakfast this morning, take the chance to explore central Sapporo before we make our way to this afternoon’s game at Sapporo Stadium, the home field of the Hokkaido Nippon-Ham Fighters baseball team and the Hokkaido Consadole Sapporo football club.  

Slap on your green and gold and get ready to cheer on the boys as they start their Rugby World Cup 2019 campaign against Fiji.

Today is at leisure before this evenings match.

This evening we will head back to the Sapporo Dome to watch a pool D clash between England and Tonga. With the top two teams from pool C and D progressing through to the quarter-finals, we get a chance to get an early look at one of our potential opponents in the knock out stage.

Monday 23 September, 2019 – Flight Sapporo to Nagoya & Train from Nagoya to Matsumoto 

Today we say goodbye to Sapporo and make our way to Matsumoto, Nagano Prefecture. We will catch a flight from Sapporo to Nagoya and then travel on the Shinano (train) from Nagoya through to Matsumoto.

Tuesday 24 September, 2019 - Visit to Jigokudani Monkey Park

After breakfast this morning we head out on a guided tour to Jigokudani Monkey Park in Nagano where we will see some 'snow monkeys' bathing and playing in onsen's. Later this afternoon enjoy some free time to wander around the city of Matsumoto, and if time enables you could visit Matsumoto Castle, one of Japans premier historic castles.

Wednesday 25 September, 2019 – Matsumoto to Takayama 

This morning after breakfast we will make our way by coach to Takayama, a city built around the beautifully preserved Sanmachi Suji district. 

Take time to wander through the Sanmachi Suji districts in the heart of Takayama’s old town. The streets are lined with traditional houses, shops, restaurants, sake breweries and cafes, and are among the most picturesque in Japan.

Thursday 26 September, 2019 – Takayama via Shirakawa-go to Kanazawa

After an early breakfast we will depart Takayama and make our way by coach to the historic village of Shirakawa-go. Declared a UNESCO world heritage site in 1995, Shirakawa-go and its neighbouring Gokayama region are famous for their traditional steep thatched roof farmhouses, some of which are more than 250 years old.

This afternoon we will continue on our way to the historic city of Kanazawa.

Friday 27 September, 2019 – Full day tour of Kanazawa

Today’s full day guided tour will take us around the historic city of Kanazawa. The highlights of today will include Kenroku-en gardens, Kanazawa Castle, Higashi Chayamachi (old geisha district) and the 21st Century Museum (art museum). Lunch will be included during today’s tour.

Saturday 28 September, 2019 – Kanazawa to Tokyo by Shinkansen 

This morning after breakfast we will experience travel on Japan’s famous Shinkansen (bullet train) for the first time as we make our way to the country's capital, Tokyo. 

Tokyo is a city of contrasts, where ancient monuments and modern skyscrapers sit side by side. Tokyo combines the traditional with the modern and mix’s the old with the new.

Spend your afternoon at leisure exploring the streets around Shinkuku. Why not visit the Samurai Museum, mosey through Golden Gai, visit Takashimaya Times Square shopping mall or explore the many pubs and Ramen restaurants that Shinjuku has to offer.

Sunday 29 September, 2019 – Australia v Wales, Tokyo Stadium  

Enjoy today at your leisure. 

This evening we will make our way to Tokyo Stadium for Australia's second pool match against Wales. Over the last ten years Australia has held the ascendancy in matches between the two sides, however these matches have always been tight affairs. Expect no less from tonight’s match as both teams look to assert their dominance early in the tournament in what is sure to be a memorable match!

Tuesday 1 October, 2019 – Tokyo to Kyoto by Shinkansen and Half Day tour of Kyoto 

After an early breakfast we travel by Shinkansen from to the former capital city of Japan, Kyoto. Upon arrival we will take a half day panoramic sightseeing tour around the city, visiting Fushimi Inari Shrine, Kinkaku-Ji Temple and Kiyomizu temple.

Wednesday 2 October, 2019 – Full Day Cultural Experience 

Today is sure to be a highlight of the tour as we embrace the Japanese culture and learn of some of the country’s oldest traditions. We will partake in a traditional Tea ceremony, Samurai experience and Kimono experience.

Thursday 3 October, 2019 – Himeji Castle and Kobe Tour

Friday 4 October, 2019 - Kyoto to Fukuoka by Shinkansen

This morning take the opportunity for one last look around Kyoto. Head to the district of Arashiyama where you can see its famous Bamboo grove as well as many temples and shrines or take a visit to Nijo Castle.
 
After lunch we will make our way by Shinkansen to Fukuoka. We will be based in Fukuoka for the next three nights.

Saturday 5 October, 2019 – Australia v Uruguay, Oita Stadium 

Today we head to Oita Stadium in Oita Prefecture for Australia’s third pool phase match. We will be transferring to the match early this morning as the match is an early afternoon kick-off. Australia played against Uruguay in at the 2015 Rugby World Cup and put in a dominant performance as they secured a 65-3 victory. Australia will be looking to emulate this performance again today to build momentum into their final pool match.

Sunday 6 October, 2019 – France v Tonga, Kumamoto Stadium 

Today we get to sample another match from pool D as France takes on Tonga at Kumamoto Stadium. Tonga famously beat France in the 2011 Rugby World Cup in New Zealand 19-14 and they will be hoping for a similar result when the two teams clash today. With pool D being referred to as the pool of death this year, every match counts and there is no easy result. This match is sure to be a fantastic spectacle and one you won’t want to miss.

Thursday 10 October, 2019 – Full Day Tour Mt Fuji 

This morning we embark on a full day tour of the stunning Hakone region taking in Japan's most recognizable landmark, the majestic Mount Fuji. Today’s full day tour will include lunch and we will visit to Mishima skywalk, Ropeway to Mt Owakudani and take a trip on a pirate boat on Lake Ashi.

Friday 11 October, 2019 – Australia v Georgia, Shizuoka Stadium Ecopa

This morning is at leisure ahead of Australia’s last pool match against Georgia. This match will be a momentous occasion as it will be the first time Australia and Georgia have played against each other. With the business end of the competition almost upon us, both teams will be leaving nothing on the park as they try to secure their spot in the quarter finals.

This clash is sure to be exceptional one between these two European rugby power houses. In what is a tough pool C, both teams will be desperate for a win as they try to secure a birth in the quarter finals. 

After the match we will board our coach and make our way to our hotel in Tokyo.

Tonight we will see the tournament hosts in action as Japan take on Scotland. This is the last match of the pool phase of Rugby World Cup 2019 and it is sure to be an entertaining match as both sides will be hopeful of progressing to next weekends quarter-finals.

Today is at leisure as you enjoy the sights of Fukuoka before we head to Oita Stadium for quarter-final 1.

In the Rugby World Cup 2015, England, the quarter-finals consisted of quarter-finals 1 & 4 South Africa v Wales & Australia v Scotland, with quarter-finals 2 & 3 being New Zealand v France and Ireland v Argentina. 

The matches in quarter final 1 & 4 were extremely tight, with South Africa and Australia defeating their opposition whilst and New Zealand and Argentina comprehensively won their quarter finals to also secure their places in the semi-finals. A last minute penalty by Bernard Foley put Australia through to the semi-finals where they would go on to face an Argentinean side that ran rampant over Ireland with a convincing 43-20 victory.

You will be in for a great weekend as the business end of the tournament gets underway with the top 8 teams at Rugby World Cup 2019 fighting for The Webb Ellis Cup.

Today is at leisure in Tokyo ahead of tonights bronze-final. Why not take the chance to visit any of the sights of Tokyo you haven’t yet seen or purchase any last minute gifts or souvenirs as your tour is coming to a close. 

Return to your hotel to freshen up and then get ready to make your way to Tokyo Stadium for the bronze-final. After 44 days, 20 nations, 12 venues and 48 matches, the Rugby World Cup 2019 final is upon us. Be prepared to watch the ultimate Rugby match, as both teams throw their bodies on the line in the effort to strive to victory and win the Webb Ellis Cup, as they mark their names in the history books as the Rugby World Cup 2019 finalists.  

Passion, aggression, skill and willpower will all be in full force tonight, as the best 2 teams of the Tournament battle it out for the next 80mins. With International Stadium Yokohama at full capacity, the atmosphere will be electric, as you witness history in the making. Get ready for what will be an unforgettable night as you witness this exciting RWC final.

In 2015, New Zealand went back to back beating Australia 34-17 to win the Rugby World Cup Final at Twickenham Stadium in London.  Both teams put their blood, sweat and tears into the match. New Zealand were up 16-3 after Nehe Milner Skudder scored for New Zealand right on half time. Two minutes into the second half a Ma’a Nonu try extended the lead to 21-3. The Australians then fought back and with 10 minutes to go the score was 21-17. However, a 70th minute drop goal, 75th minute penalty and 80th minute try to the All Blacks secured the victory and they became the first back to back winners of The Webb Ellis Trophy.
