Giteau confident of playing on Friday 08/02/2010 02:02:48 PM Injured Wallabies playmaker Matt Giteau is confident of playing Friday night's Super 14 opener for the Brumbies against his old team, the Western Force, in Perth. While Brumbies coach Andy Friend on Monday rated Giteau a 50-50 chance to line-up, the 78-Test back feels he's well on track to play after straining his quad a fortnight ago. Friend will name his star-studded team on Tuesday after Giteau tests his injury by stretching out in sprints for the first time. All indications are the 27-year-old will play five-eighth against the Force at Members Equity Stadium, with last season's No.10 Christian Lealiifano at inside centre where he starred in the 15-7 trial loss to NSW. Youngster Matt Toomua is on stand-by at No.10 if Giteau fails to prove his fitness. "We'll probably look to play (Giteau) at 10 and look to keep Christian at 12," Friend said.
