After their inspirational win at Rugby World Cup in 2021, the nation will come together again to support the team as they look to win back to back series over the British Lions for the first time since 1968.

2009 British Lions in South Africa

The last time the British Lions toured South Africa was back in 2009 with the Springboks winning a hard-fought series 2-1.

In the first Test in Durban, the Springboks rampaged to a 26-7 lead after 50 minutes before the Lions mounted a strong comeback scoring 2 late tries. In a brutal final 10 minutes the Springboks were able to hang on to their lead securing an all-important 27-21 victory in the first Test.

Pretoria in the Highveld was the venue for the second Test. After a sensational 80 minute bruising encounter, Morne Steyn broke the heart of the Lions as he kicked a penalty from inside his own half on the last play of the game to give South Africa a 28-25 victory and the series win.

The Lions came out firing in the third Test at Ellis Park and put in a spectacular performance as they dominated the Springboks all over the park on their way to a pride-salvaging 28-9 win.
